about the studios

The Amber Street Studios are located in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia, and consist of two multistory buildings totaling over 200,000 square feet. The buildings were built in phases beginning in 1895, and originally housed the Masland carpet factory, and over the years, a series of textile mills, clothing contractors, and other manufacturing businesses.

Today the building continues to house textile businesses, but has also become a hub for the creative economy in Philadelphia, with studios and spaces occupied by artists and designers as well. Representing creative media from paint to metalwork, from cloth to computer animation, from woodworking to video production, from printing to ceramics, the Amber Street Studios have evolved into a functional and affordable workspace for Philadelphia's creative community.
